FAQ

Common questions

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed Markdown file that gives AI tools choosing to fetch it a curated map of important pages and short context. Version 2 of the proposal allows the file at the domain root or another deliberate path. It complements normal crawlable pages; it is not a robots rule, ranking factor, or citation guarantee.

Can I import a sitemap?

Yes. Paste sitemap XML or choose an XML file from your device. You can also paste one URL per line. The tool processes the content locally, keeps same-origin HTTP and HTTPS URLs, removes duplicates, and turns the result into editable sections.

Where do I publish the generated file?

The conventional public location is https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt. Version 2 also permits a deliberate subpath. Use a location your deployment or WordPress setup can maintain, then open the final URL and confirm that it returns plain text with a 200 status.

Does this tool send my data anywhere?

No. Importing and generation happen in your browser. The site title, URLs, descriptions, XML content, and generated file are not sent to our API. With optional analytics consent, we may record only aggregate tool-run and download events without the entered values.

Will llms.txt get my site cited by AI assistants?

No one can guarantee that. Treat llms.txt as a low-cost machine-readable map. Crawlable pages, direct answers, original evidence, clear authorship, and real authority remain more important.
