FAQ

Common questions

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file (similar to robots.txt) that sits at the root of your domain and tells LLMs which pages are most important to your site, with context. AI models like ChatGPT and Claude can use it to understand what your site is about and which sections to prioritize when citing you. The spec is at llmstxt.org.

Where do I upload the generated file?

Upload it to the root of your domain so it is reachable at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt. On WordPress, drop it in the same folder as your wp-config.php (or use any FTP tool). Test by visiting the URL directly — it should download or display as plain text.

Does this tool send data anywhere?

No. The whole generator runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers. You can verify by opening DevTools → Network tab while you click Generate. No fetch, no telemetry.

How many sections should I include?

Start with 3-8 high-value sections: your most popular blog posts, your pricing page, your product or service pages, and your about page. Anything more than 10-12 dilutes the signal. You can always regenerate later.

Will adding llms.txt actually help me get cited by ChatGPT or Claude?

Possibly. The spec is still emerging and adoption is partial — Anthropic, Perplexity, and a handful of others have indicated they read it. Google has not committed. Even so, the file is cheap to ship, costs nothing, and signals intent to be AI-readable. Pair it with strong schema, fast pages, and clean HTML.
